INDEXED COLOR / EAT DESIGNSCOPE / JACQUARD LOOM

An original photograph indexed in Photoshop, assigned yarns and weaves per color in EAT DesignScope, and woven on a jacquard loom.

THE PROJECT

An original photograph was reduced to indexed colors in Photoshop, then brought into EAT DesignScope to assign a yarn and a weave to each color index before weaving on the jacquard loom.

  1. 02 / INDEXED COLOR

The photograph was reduced to a small set of indexed colors in Photoshop, so that each region of tone becomes one index.

  2. 03 / EAT DESIGNSCOPE PROCESS

The indexed image was opened in EAT DesignScope, where each color index becomes an area that can be given its own weave.

  3. 04 / YARN / WEAVE ASSIGNMENT

A yarn and a weave structure were assigned to every index. The balance of warp and weft on the face at each index sets how light or dark it reads in the cloth.

05 / FINAL JACQUARD CLOTH

The finished jacquard-woven cloth.
